REGION 6-AAAAAA WELCOMES FULTON AND FORSYTH COUNTY SCHOOLS (UPDATED 12/10)
The GHSA has concluded the re-classification of Georgia high schools for the 2012-13 school year and a new classification, AAAAAA, has
been introduced. Schools with full time enrollments ranging from approximately 1940 and higher have been placed into the 6A classification.
The GHSA re-classification effort also divided schools within each classification into regions.
The new Region 6-AAAAAA has been formed from schools that participated in the AAAA and AAAAA classifications in 2011-12 and include teams
that have established rivalries in many sports thus allowing those rivalries to continue.
Region 6-AAAAAA will be composed of 8 schools from the North Fulton and Forsyth County area. The region has been divided into 2 sub-regions
based on proximity of the schools to each other. Schools assigned to sub-region A are Alpharetta, Centennial, Chattahoochee, and Johns Creek
from Fulton County. In sub-region B are the Forsyth County schools Lambert, North Forsyth, South Forsyth, and West Forsyth. The 2012 softball
region schedule and region tournament format will be determined by a meeting of region coaches in early 2012 and will be published at that time.
